DIG OUT YOUR OLD TOOLS!

Throughout April, gardeners in Warwickshire are being asked to help people in developing countries by rooting through their sheds and garages and digging out their old tools.

Ransons Family Garden Centre at Hatton Country World is collecting the old or unused non-powered handheld garden tools for Feed The Children (UK)’s Dig Out Your Old Tools campaign, which collect garden tools and ships them to people in other countries.  As an extra incentive, Ransons will give people donating old tools a voucher allowing them a 15% discount against new tools bought in the garden centre and donate 5% to Feed The Children for container transportation costs.

“In our garden sheds and garages we have probably accumulated tools we no longer need or would like to replace. This campaign gives gardeners a good reason to see them put to good use,” says garden centre owner Julian Ranson. “If at the same time gardeners want to replace, upgrade or renew any tools, then our campaign has benefits for them too. Feed The Children is a very special charity and we hope lots of our customers will support this project.”

Ransons will accept any non-powered handheld garden tools bought into the garden centre in April and ship them to developing countries through Feed The Children (UK) or sell them to support the projects. The charity works worldwide, as well as within the UK, to develop sustainable communities and provide food and other necessities for those in great need.

“We will accept all non-powered handheld gardening implements, even if their wooden handles are broken, just so long as they can be repaired,” says Feed The Children’s Chief Executive, Brian Main.
