FORGOTTEN TREASURE?
As summer ebbs away it is time to start searching for antiques in your attic, house, or even your shed and garage, for you could soon be in for a surprise Autumn windfall!
Valuation experts, led by Garth Lewis, from local estate agents Martin & Pole, are inviting people to a charity antiques valuation day organised by the Soroptimists of Reading, Wokingham and Bracknell. Each item can be valued for only £2 with proceeds being donated to children’s charity Feed The Children (UK) based in Twyford, Berks. Tea, coffee and cakes home made by members of the Soroptimists will be on sale.
The antiques valuation day is on Wednesday, 2nd November at the Bradbury Centre, Rose Street, Wokingham (RG40 1XS) from 2.00pm to 5.00pm (doors open 1.45pm).
Feed The Children volunteer manager and Soroptimist Sue Thomas says, “The Soroptimists wanted to organise an event for the charity and Martin & Pole were happy to support them with an antiques valuation day, so it’s a great opportunity to find out what that treasured possession is really worth and help Feed The Children at the same time. Martin & Pole have also promised half their commission on any item that is sold within two months as a result of the Valuation Day. We’ll also be serving refreshments, holding a tombola and selling Christmas cards.”
