SOROPTIMISTS SUPPORT FEED THE CHILDREN (UK)

A leading group of businesswomen and professional women are lending their expertise to support vulnerable children and orphans. The Soroptimist Club of Reading, Wokingham and Bracknell will be supporting Twyford based Feed The Children (UK) under this year’s club theme, Partnership.
The local Soroptimist Club will, under the umbrella Awareness and Advocacy, promote Feed The Children by making presentations on important charity issues like Jiggers; water issues and harvest festivals to local schools, Girl Guides and other organisations.
They will also identify ways of Promoting Pads, Pants and a Pound – through organisations for women and girls and organise antiques valuations as fundraising events, knit school jumpers and blankets and help with fundraising events run by FTC volunteers.
True to their word they came to the rescue and agreed to bake cakes for the forthcoming Feed The Children Bridge Drive on Thursday 21st October, 2pm at Charvil Village Hall, Park Lane, Charvil. Further information from sthomas@feedthechildren.org.uk.
The Soroptimists are always looking for new members. They meet on the first Thursday of each month at The Earley Crescent Resource Centre, Warbler Drive, Lower Earley. For further information email brown.joannal@googlemail.com or brenda.jenkins@btinternet.com.
“Volunteers are an important asset to any charity,” says volunteer manager Sue Thomas. “At Feed The Children we are particularly grateful for the time and dedication we receive from our band of volunteers. To have the local Soroptimists on board to help wherever necessary is a fantastic opportunity.”
