RUN FOR FEED THE CHILDREN IN THE VIRGIN LONDON MARATHON

Feed The Children (UK) has been lucky enough to secure a Silver Bond place in next year’s Virgin London Marathon on Sunday, 25th April 2010, which guarantees a place for one lucky runner. Now the charity is seeking a person to run for them who will be dedicated to raising as much money as possible for Feed The Children’s projects both in the UK and abroad, with ideally employer match funding.
The Silver Bond place incurs a cost to the charity of £300 plus VAT and it is looking for a commitment from their runner to cover this cost as a deposit for the place. In addition they would like their runner to pledge to raise a minimum of £2,000 sponsorship, excluding gift aid. Feed The Children would also like to get as much publicity for their runner as possible in the lead up to and after the event.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for both a runner and the charity,” says Feed The Children’s CEO, Brian Main. “In support of our runner we will provide them with running t-shirt, the necessary fundraising materials and of course plenty of encouragement to help them maximise their efforts to reach their target. We would also want to publicise their association with the charity in any way we can.”
All applicants interested in applying for Feed The Children’s special Silver Bond place should fill in an application form and return it by Wednesday, 28th October. Applicants will be notified by Wednesday 11th November 2009 as to whether they have been successful or not.
“So why should people want to run and fundraise for Feed The Children?” continues Brian. “First and foremost we are a children’s charity but also a humanitarian and international relief organisation. We work both in the UK and around the world in areas of desperate need, developing sustainable communities, providing food, clothing and other life supporting requirements. Our administration costs are very low compared with other charities with 90% of our donations going towards our work. For more details of our work visit www.feedthechildren.org.uk.”
