HARVEST FESTIVAL IN TILEHURST Westwood Farm Harvest

Kind-hearted children have donated hundreds of pounds worth of food to help the charity Feed The Children (UK).

Pupils at Westwood Farm Infant School in Tilehurst made the generous gift during their harvest festival on Friday, October 2.  They handed over boxes packed with pasta, rice, tins and dried fruit to feed poor and hungry children around the world.

Headteacher, Sue Deacon, said, “The school has supported Feed The Children for five years. The charity really relates to the children and gives them a growing awareness of other children around the world who have very different lives to their own. It also shows them the act of giving and being thankful for what they have got. We have always had supportive parents and end up with boxes and boxes of food and are delighted to make another donation.”

Mums and dads were invited to a special assembly at the Fullbrook Crescent school and made a cash donation to the Twyford charity.

Neil Mullins, from Feed The Children, said, “We are always grateful to receive donations of food and the money will help pay for the transport to get the goods out to where they are needed.

“We cannot thank the school enough for its continuing support over the years and their latest fantastic donation. It is wonderful to know and they are thinking of children in need at this time of year.”
