Zimbabwe - Feed The Children's latest partnership programme

Communities are currently struggling, with Zimbabwe's current economic difficulties - inflation in March was around 1,700% and is now a staggering 15,000%.

We are delighted that from December 2007, we are now supporting around 600 children, in 13 schools catering for youngsters with special needs in the area of Gweru, between Bulawayo and Harare.

Children with special needs are especially vulnerable in times of difficulty; the extra support they need, such as physiotherapy, speech therapy, special needs teaching and aids such as wheelchairs are simply not available in impoverished communities.

Our first container, carrying 26-tonnes of much needed food, cooking oil and blankets was dispatched in December 2007, and is due to arrive in February 2008.

FTC's partner in Uganda commented,

"You have no idea of the magnitude of this miracle shipment."

Feed The Children concentrates its help on the most vulnerable in society; when communities struggle, it is the children who suffer the most.  That's why our first priority is to Feed The Children.
