Harvest festival 2008

  

The traditional Harvest festival themes of thanksgiving and sharing are celebrated in Feed The Children's harvest resource material for 2008.

 

Your harvest sharing this year can support children in desperate need, in places like Uganda, Kenya, Angola and Liberia, as well as provide relief in emergency situations - both for the immediate emergency and the ongoing support needed in the months and years afterwards.

 

Harvest fundraising focuses on the most basic needs; food everyday, clean water and warmth at night.

Seven year old Adah is one of over 14,000 children in rural Uganda who is receiving a nourishing meal at school everyday.

 

 

 

 

Afghanistan; boys shelter in a hole in the ground

 

These boys are hiding from the conflict in Afghanistan. They have made themselves a shelter - in a hole in the ground.

 

 

Neelam - a young amputee from Pakistan's earthquake zone

 

Neelam lost more than her home in Pakistan's earthquake - she also lost her left leg. FTC is providing medical care and rehabilitation, along with food and transport for her many hospital visits. She will need a new artificial leg every year until she is fully grown.

 

 

 

 

 

These children are just a few of those your harvest festival could help - could you fundraise for Feed The Children this year?

 

Many schools and churches within reach of one of Feed The Children's offices or regional collection points also enjoy the tangible experience of bringing harvest gifts that will be sent to impoverished communities.

 

We welcome the following gifts:

  • rice
  • dried pasta
  • dried pulses (peas, beans, lentils)
  • dried fruit

All food should have a best before date more than six months ahead. We regret that we are unable to accept out of date food, fresh food, or packs that have been opened.

 

Please check that you are able to deliver your goods to one of our offices or collection points, as we are not able to collect from you. Please see our list of regional collection points.
